Which target size should you choose?
Always follow the destination’s stated limit. If there is no limit, start larger and only reduce further when necessary.
20–50KB
Strict forms
Legacy portals, signatures and tiny profile images. Expect visible detail loss on large photos.
100–200KB
Common uploads
A practical range for application photos, web forms and document portals.
300–500KB
Balanced quality
Useful when a portal allows more detail or the image contains text and fine edges.

Email and sharing
Reduces large camera images while retaining more resolution for normal viewing.
How the tool reaches your limit
- 1. JPEG quality search: it tests quality levels and keeps the clearest result that fits.
- 2. Progressive resizing: if quality alone is not enough, it reduces dimensions and tries again.
- 3. Honest fallback: if the limit cannot be reached safely, the UI identifies the smallest result produced.
Current output behavior
Inputs use browser-supported image decoding. Results are optimized JPG files; animated images use the decoded still frame, and transparency becomes white.
Private browser processing
The compression loop runs on your device. Performance and maximum practical batch size depend on available browser memory.

Image compression FAQ
Does the tool produce an exact file size?
It targets a result at or below the selected maximum. It does not add unnecessary data just to reach an exact byte count.
Why can image dimensions change?
The compressor first searches for the highest JPEG quality that fits. If quality reduction alone is not enough, it progressively reduces pixel dimensions.
What happens to transparent PNG or WebP files?
The current compressor exports JPG. Because JPEG has no transparency, transparent areas are rendered on a white background.
Can I compress several images at once?
Yes. Add multiple browser-supported images and download the completed files individually or together as a ZIP archive.
Are images uploaded to a server?
Image decoding, compression and resizing run locally in your browser. The selected image files are not sent to an image-processing server.
What if the target cannot be reached?
The result area clearly reports when the smallest usable output is still above the target, instead of claiming a successful result.
